Not just building a pro career, but also a... | Week 18

You’re never to old to dream.

To let your mind wander into what could be.

When I was 14, I had a dream to play division one basketball at Duke.

Spoiler, I didn’t play there (huge mistake by Coach K), but I did work to achieve that dream and I played in college.

When I was 23, I had a dream to start a business. And with this incredible man, Dan, we started a small business selling some of the most unique hats on earth.

 

Now I’m 28, with a new dream. And if you’ve followed this newsletter for a bit, you know it’s about pickleball. **chuckles.

Here’s the one liner.

I want to compete hard (to become a pro) and create online content that teaches, inspires, and makes people laugh (hopefully really hard). 

This dream has grown deeper in my heart, day-by-day, over the last few months.

And in that time, I’ve also started to stare into my backyard and wonder…

 

What if I build a home-court. A court used to train, create content, and build community.

Well, in the past few months, I started to research, make phone calls and ask questions to those I know who have home-courts.

Eventually, I got answers and pulled the trigger on the build.

Over the past week, Earl (who many told me is the concrete master) and his team did the prep work, set the foundation, and poured the concrete.

 

To say I’m excited is an understatement. I work from home. So over the past couple days — every time I’ve taken a break — I’ve walked to the window and stared into the yard — thinking about…

…all the cool things this court will represent in the future. And all the cool moments this court will create.

It’ll be a place for people, young and old, to gather. A place to film videos that thousands (maybe millions) will see. A place to train my skills as I continue this journey from never playing to pro in 12 months.

The court’s about 35 days from being completely finished.
