Today’s edition has two parts:

1. A Helpful Tip (Video) – How to Beat Bangers...

2. My Journey Playing Pro  New Angles Lead to New Perspectives.

A Helpful Tip (Video):

I have a friend in Jiu Jitsu. Who once shared, “The best use your energy against you.”

It’s not the biggest, strongest guys who are the best in the fight. It’s those that are tactically sound. The one’s deeply connected to their own movements and the movements of their enemy.

When I heard this, I thought about bangers in pickleball.

For those unfamiliar, a banger is a player who hits every shot hard.

Now, is that style good or bad? Well, it depends.

Banging the ball, shot after shot, is often a strategy that works well. UNLESS, they’re going up against a player who understands a few key concepts.

Because here’s the truth. There’s no right way to play pickleball, despite what the rec court know-it-alls have told you.

But there is a principle that tends to work well in most sports: Take the thing your opponents want and use it against them.

I’ll show you how in this video :)

Enjoy!👇

My Journey Playing Pro Pickleball:

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at begin to change.

Pickleball translation: If you change the angle from where you watch the game, you learn new things.

In fact, two nights ago I watched the Arizona Pickleball League match from a side angle.

I saw roughly 30 “out balls” get hit.

I never would have noticed this if I was watching from a “behind the court” angle. The reason is, when you watch from the side, you can actually see the height of the ball and its trajectory after impact.

Now I've never sought out to “watch the game from different angles.” But depending on the venue, the seat you have is almost always different. So your viewpoint changes from match to match.

So knowing that, if you sit down to watch live pickleball, realize — whatever seat you have offers a different way to see the game. What you do with that view is up to you :)

Talk next week,

Kyle
